Hi, my name is Felicity, and I’m asking for help during one of the most overwhelming and frightening times in my life. I moved into my current home about a month ago, hoping for a fresh start, but instead, it has become unsafe. Since moving in, there have been two drive-by shootings right in front of my home. Today, someone even tried to break in and damaged my door. I no longer feel safe where I live. I am a full-time wheelchair user and rely on Social Security, which makes it extremely difficult to handle an emergency move like this on my own. I also have pets, including emotional support animals, who are essential to my well-being. Because of this, I don’t have the option to stay just anywhere or go into most temporary housing. To make things harder, I am required to pay a lease buyout fee to leave early. This is a major barrier, but staying here is not safe for me. I am trying to relocate as quickly as possible to a safer and accessible place, but I simply don’t have the financial means to cover all the costs on my own. Donations will go toward the lease buyout fee to safely leave my current home, security deposit and rent for a safer, accessible place, moving expenses and any help I need due to my wheelchair, pet deposits and related housing costs, and basic necessities during the transition. This situation has taken a serious toll on me. I am living in constant fear, and I just want to feel safe in my own home again. If you are able to donate, I am incredibly grateful.
