If you know Felecia Stivers, you know she is the friend who shows up for everyone — For over 15 years, she’s been a constant source of support, encouragement, and kindness in my life and the lives of so many others --- Always the steady encourager, the loving mom, the friend who pours her heart into every person in her life. Whether she’s behind the camera capturing special moments, offering a listening ear, or surprising friends with her delicious baked goods, Felecia’s heart of gold shines through in everything she does. Today, she needs help in a way she never imagined.

Felecia traveled to Tulum for a much-needed relaxing vacation, but on November 21st, her trip turned into a life-altering emergency. During an ATV ride, she suffered a traumatic accident that shattered her tibia into seven pieces, requiring emergency surgery, and a longer than expected recovery in Mexico - far from her children who are waiting for her back home in Arizona.

Instead of relaxing on the beach, she was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, where she learned that every part of medical care in Mexico is prepaid upfront — ambulance, ER, surgery, hospital stay — nothing moves forward until payment is made. To make circumstances even more difficult, Felecia had no active U.S. medical insurance at the time. Her coverage from her previous job ended on October 31st, and with her trip starting on November 9th, she had not yet started a new policy, and her previous employer was too small to offer COBRA, leaving her fully uninsured when the accident happened.

Despite the fear of having surgery in another country, she has received excellent care from skilled doctors. Because the break was so severe, she will need ongoing monitoring and follow-up treatment — and she is working to find the right balance between staying in Mexico for specialized aftercare and eventually returning home to heal with her children.

Why support is still urgently needed

Although Felecia can work remotely anywhere with strong WiFi and cell service, recovery in Tulum has been extremely difficult.

She’s facing:

Spotty WiFi and unreliable cell service

Random power outages

Limited ability to work while healing

Mounting medical and living expenses

These interruptions make it nearly impossible to work consistently during recovery, even though she is trying.
