My body has been deteriorating ever since I contracted a rare virus 16 years ago when I was just 12 years old.
The doctors weren’t even sure I would survive the virus. I was paralyzed from the neck down for a while. Although I regained movement, it was the start of a constant, overwhelming medical battle for me.
Over the past 16 years, I have experienced numerous medical emergencies and developed chronic diseases, including a brain tumor, epilepsy, and POTS.
Despite all of the pain and suffering, I was determined to live independently. I studied and became a master’s level marriage and family therapist, so I wouldn’t need to turn to you for help.
However, I have not been able to work a steady job in years. The medical bills have been massive- I have paid and continue to accumulate tens of thousands of dollars of medical bills. I currently owe close to $15,000 and incur $2,000 in medical expenses per month.
I have managed to avoid homelessness due to the generosity and self-sacrifice of my family. But as the costs continue to grow, I need extra help for me to stay in my house and get medical treatment.
Unfortunately, things have become even more challenging for me recently. I started treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for my chronic conditions, including a life threatening lung illness known as early onset COPD (despite never having smoked) and a rare disease that causes healthy fat necrosis/deterioration in my legs. We remain hopeful that I can fight this illness for many years, but our ability to do so will depend on whether we can afford the medical bills.
I no longer can afford my skyrocketing medical bills, rent, and everyday expenses. I am desperate to find a way to enjoy my life despite my challenges and maintain the independent lifestyle I have worked so hard to achieve. However, I have reached a financial barrier that I cannot overcome without help.
Please consider donating to help with my situation.
Please keep Feiga Nechama Bas Tovah Ada in your prayers!
