Help FEED Kitchens Keep Things Rolling
Tax deductible
FEED Kitchens’ Bakery Training Program has totally been blowing up throughout the pandemic crisis. There are orders coming in from all over the County because, honestly, they make the best and most beautiful cookies around (plus a lot of other yummy stuff too). Not only are the products top notch but the operation has also provided training and steady employment for staff during these uncertain times.
Healthy Food For All is another program based at FEED Kitchens that’s been rapidly expanding in response to increasing need. HFFA continues to identify new sources of surplus food we can recover and share with neighbors in need but struggles to collect all that’s available. HFFA is poised to dramatically reduce food waste but capacity issues are already constraining the project’s growth.
On top of all that, there are many, many other demands on FEED Kitchens' limited and aging “fleet” like delivering the Northside News and moving gear for community events. Currently, FEED Kitchens has one fairly new cargo van and one not-so-new (to put it politely) passenger van to make all this important work possible. Continued growth will be challenging and key programs serving the community are one breakdown or accident away from being completely shutdown.
Like a Library or Community Center, FEED Kitchens is a non-profit community resource that provides services and leads projects that benefit many local workers and families. That’s the reason we are appealing to our beloved community of friends and supporters through this forum to help us buy an additional, reliable delivery vehicle. FEED Kitchens financials are strong but we certainly don’t have much extra to cover this critical piece of delivery infrastructure.
Please make a donation of any size you are able and share this appeal with any others you know would be interested. FEED Kitchens has continued to thrive and grow despite all the challenges and we are committed to increasing our impact on the community. The one thing that can help make it all happen is building our fleet capacity. It may seem sort of boring and even a bit wonky but, sincerely, your support will make all this and more possible so please help if you can!
