We appreciate everyone taking the time to share thoughts and concerns. There’s been a lot of conflicting and sometimes misleading information circulating about this Waxahachie project, and it’s important to set the record straight:
• This flock is part of a pasture-raised egg initiative designed to promote humane, sustainable food production on a property that spans well over 10 acres.
• Many of the viral posts and videos circulating online lack proper context or intentionally highlight isolated moments to create a negative impression.
• Contrary to what’s being claimed, these birds are not neglected. Thousands of pounds of feed are distributed every week to ensure their nutritional needs are met, alongside regular oversight to monitor their health and welfare.
• The birds have been tested and officially deemed healthy and legal by the Texas Animal Health Commission.
• The property has been subjected to repeated vandalism, targeted harassment, and intimidation—including racially charged threats—which has created additional challenges in maintaining operations.
Our immediate priorities are repairing the damage, strengthening security measures, and enhancing biosecurity protocols to protect the flock and everyone working on the project. We are also working to formalize our nonprofit status and organizational structure to better serve the community and increase transparency.
If you’d like to help us recover and support this initiative, here’s our verified GoFundMe page to contribute toward infrastructure improvements, security systems, and community education efforts:

Support the Operators Behind the Waxahachie Chicken Rescue: Behind the Viral Headlines Lies the Real Work
Several thousand chickens in Waxahachie, Texas have become the focus of a viral social media storm. But what’s missing from the posts, clips, and comments is the truth — and the tireless work being done by the operators on the ground to bring stability, health, and hope to these animals.
While the internet spreads noise, we’re feeding thousands of birds every single day, hauling water, laying infrastructure, and working around the clock to protect lives — both feathered and human.
This Isn’t a Crisis for Clicks — It’s a Call for Commitment
Yes, this situation is overwhelming. Yes, mistakes were made. But now is the time for solutions — not slander.
The people stepping up to help have been met with vandalism, defamation, and threats, all while trying to provide care on a scale most can’t imagine.
•Setting up our non-profit and administrative infrastructure
• Massive water hauling and delivery systems to hydrate thousands
• Safe pathways and work zones that require aggregate material (gravel, road base, etc.) to allow movement across muddy or unsafe terrain
• Secure housing and containment to prevent injury, escape, or predation
• Biosecurity, veterinary testing, and care to prevent disease outbreaks
• Labor, logistics, and equipment support to keep the effort alive
