My mother, Nancy Pérez, has dedicated her entire life to rescuing animals in Colombia. From the time she was a child, she has opened her heart and home to dogs, cats, birds, and even monkeys in need. For Nancy, helping animals is not just something she does—it’s who she is. Over the years, she has saved more than 100 dogs and cats from the streets, giving them food, shelter, and a second chance at life.


One of the most unforgettable rescues was Captain Will, a cat Nancy found surrounded by people ready to harm him because of his severe infections and wounds. Despite the heartbreaking scene, Nancy stepped in, carried him home, and cared for him day and night. Today, Captain Will is healthy and happy, though he lost one of his legs as a result of his past suffering. He is a living symbol of compassion and resilience. Stories like his are common in our home, where every animal has faced hardship and found hope through Nancy’s care.


Recently, my mom’s health struggles have made it even harder to keep up with the daily needs of the animals. Most of our expenses go toward food and medicine, but right now, food is the most urgent need.
