Help keep the first soup kitchen in Uganda open
Donation protected
About Us:
My name is Grace Nakimera, and I am the founder of the Feed the Streets Foundation, based in the ghetto community of Katoogo, Kinawataka, Kampala, Uganda. As a humanitarian and a Christian mother, I have been doing charity work for over five years, dedicating my life to helping homeless children and struggling mothers.
I grew up in the same challenging environment, where hunger and hardship were part of my daily life. Inspired by a promise I made to God to help others if I ever received His blessings, I opened the first-ever soup kitchen in our community. Feed the Streets serves as a beacon of hope, offering free meals, counseling, and skills training to uplift those in need.
What We Do:
• Feeding Program: We serve 400-500 meals weekly to mothers and children living in extreme poverty.
• Shelter Initiative: We provide a safe space for homeless children, offering food, care, and stability.
• Vocational Training: We teach life skills like baking, farming, mechanical work, soap production, beauty care, and music to empower mothers and youth to become self-sufficient.
• Rehabilitation Club: We support individuals battling addiction with counseling and skill-building programs.
• Small Business Development: We help families in the ghettos start sustainable businesses.
How Funds Will Be Used:
We aim to raise £100,000 to:
1. Build a permanent shelter for homeless children and struggling families.
2. Establish a sustainable food bank and purchase farmland to grow food for all seasons.
3. Expand vocational training programs to equip more people with life-changing skills.
4. Create a larger community center with rehabilitation facilities for those seeking to transform their lives.
5. Continue serving meals to 1,000 individuals weekly and support new initiatives for long-term self-reliance.
Why Your Support Matters:
Your donation can change lives. For instance, when we first met Simon, a 9-year-old boy, he had lost hope, living homeless and starving. Today, thanks to the shelter and care he received, Simon is thriving and helping others in the center. Each contribution directly impacts children like Simon, offering them a future filled with promise and opportunity.
Transparency and Accountability:
Our funds are managed responsibly by a dedicated team, led by myself (Grace Nakimera) and Mrs. Nishita Serunkuma. We ensure that every donation goes directly toward the projects and beneficiaries. Regular updates and reports are shared with donors to maintain transparency. We also work with local experts and community leaders to maximize the impact of our initiatives.
Questions for Consideration:
1. Connection to Recipients: How are you connected to the parties you’re raising funds for?
• I am the founder of the Feed the Streets Foundation, directly involved with the children and mothers we serve.
2. Use of Funds: How will you ensure the funds are used effectively?
• All funds are allocated to specific projects like shelter construction, feeding programs, and skills training. We also provide regular updates to donors.
3. Partnerships: Will you send the funds to a third party or use them directly?
• Donations are handled directly by our team to ensure they are used solely for the intended purposes.
4. Impact Communication: How do you stay connected with donors and update them?
• We maintain an open line of communication via email, social media, and reports, sharing stories of transformation and progress regularly.
Thank you for considering our cause. Together, we can bring hope and lasting change to the children and families in our community.
Sincerely,
Grace Nakimera
