I'm looking to raise $4,500 to feed lunch to 250 needy Kenyan schoolkids (5 days a week for 6 months). If you are looking for your charitable donations to do immediate good, please consider donating!

While serving as a Political Officer at the US Embassy in Nairobi, I became friends with Elly Opondo, a grassroots peace-builder and community leader in Kisumu County (western Kenya). Elly's family started the St. Jerome Emiliano Center out of his mother's backyard, feeding kids from surrounding villages breakfast on their way to school. The project has grown into a multi-purpose, faith-based organization fulfilling Christ's exhortation in the Gospel of Matthew: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." Almost entirely from community—and now American and European donations—Elly and his family are feeding children, maintaining a library, teaching parenting classes, and providing a community center for the surrounding villages in Ramula, Kisumu County.

For this fundraising drive, I am focusing on feeding the kids. It only takes USD $4,500 to feed 250 kids lunch 5 days a week for 6 months! Please join us.
