Help FDNY's Mick Hansen with ALS Medical Costs
Donation protected
This fundraiser is to raise money in support of FDNY Lieutenant Greg Hansen, better known as Mickey, who is suffering from the motor neuron disease ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease). ALS is a progressive, debilitating disease that has no known cure and disproportionately affects firefighters. With this disease, motor neurons gradually break down and die, meaning that the brain cannot communicate with the muscles, weakening and eventually paralyzing them.
The funds collected will help Mickey and his wife, America, cover the medical costs associated with this disease. The costs associated with this disease far exceed what insurance covers and include specialized treatments, medicines, transportation, and adaptive and medical equipment purchases.
In addition to offsetting medical costs, we also support Mick and America as they continue to give their two children – Amaru (10) and Clara (8) - as full and as normal a life as possible. A life that’s filled with baseball, softball, basketball, piano lessons, and family trips to the beach and mountains. For those of you who know Mick, you know that providing this for his children is what matters most to him.
We are so grateful for any donations, big or small, that you are able to provide to support Mick and America at this time.
With much love,
The Hansen-Maldonado Family
