Hi, I'm Sherri. On Feb. 11th, my mother, Faye O'Neal was injured in an auto accident. Faye was the caregiver to my Father and my nephew (age 12). My father is limited in his activities of daily living and needed my mother to help with doctor visits, picking up prescriptions, meals, etc. My nephew relied on my mother for all of his needs too, ie transportation to school activities, haircuts, doctors and dentists appointments, etc. Faye was also the one who grocery- shopped, cleaned the house, prepared meals, etc. The auto accident broke Faye's leg and ribs-making driving and doing daily activities impossible. In addition, the hospital, while treating Faye's auto accident injuries, discovered Pancreatic Cancer. Now, the three in the house have no way to get to the store, doctor, etc unless I am there to assist. I live 4 hours away and to help navigate this very long road ahead of us, there will be many hours of lost work, travel expenses, etc. Because of where they live, there will be many doctors visits out of town for Faye which will also cause a financial burden. Allowing me to spend as much time as I can with my parents to assist them in these trying days will relieve a lot of burden from them. Money raised will help pay for my missed time from working hours, put in place some home assistance for my parents and help cover some of the costs of travel-both for me as I go back and forth from my city of residence to their home and the costs of transportation to many physician visits.

Updates: Faye's injuries from the auto accident are continuing to heal but, unfortunately, there is a diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. While I'm (her daughter) doing my best to try to continue to work, there are many days of work I've already missed and obviously, many weeks that I will be missing coming up. In addition, I'll be traveling back and forth between my home where my two daughters and husband are, to my mother's home (a 4- hour trip- one way) to care for the two households. My vehicle, a 2007 GMC Denali, just broke down on Saturday while we were trying to make the trip from my house to my parents house to spend the Easter Holiday with my mother. Now, the transmission is completely gone in that car and I have no transportation except my husband's 1996 pickup truck.

The missing time from work, the expenses of traveling back and forth etc, are quickly taking a toll. I'd love to buy a used camper (I've found one for approx. $7K) to put in my parent's backyard so I could stay close by when I'm helping my mother as her house has no more room. And, this would eliminate trying to find hotel accommodations during an approaching peak season in a tourist destination. I'm focusing on raising money to help cover the costs of my bills while work is put to the side to be by my mother's side, help cover the cost of a used camper and help cover the costs of transportation.
