I am a first-generation student coming out of state to pursue a master's degree in public health at San Diego State University in a field I love. My dream is to give back to the community and make a positive impact, but the financial challenges of tuition and housing are overwhelming. Growing up in a low-income household, I learned firsthand how important access to education, health resources, and community support can be. Those experiences inspired my passion for public health and my desire to create meaningful change for underserved populations.
I have worked hard to reach this point, balancing my education, professional responsibilities, and community engagement. While I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to be accepted into SDSU, the financial burden of graduate school, tuition, housing, and relocation expenses presents a significant challenge. Unlike many students, I do not have the financial support of family members to help cover these costs.
My goal is to use my education to improve community health outcomes, advocate for health equity, and create programs that empower individuals and families to thrive. Earning my master's degree will provide me with the tools and knowledge to make a lasting impact in the communities I serve. While I actively apply and hear back from scholarships I will continue to work an on campus and off campus job and any contribution, no matter the size, will help me continue this journey and focus on my studies rather than financial barriers. If you are unable to donate, sharing my story would mean just as much. Thank you for believing in my future and helping me take this important step toward making a difference.
