My father, Dedre Loper, is a loving father of four, a devoted husband to his partner of 18 years, and someone who has always stepped up for family — even helping raise and care for his little cousin. He’s also a basketball coach who has spent years mentoring and supporting kids in our community.
Recently, our lives changed in an instant. While biking home from work, Dedre was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. The injuries he suffered were devastating. Both of his arms were dislocated, and his left arm had to be reset twice. Doctors believe he may have permanent nerve damage in that arm. He also suffered a severe concussion and is struggling with memory loss, unable to remember conversations or things being told to him. On top of that, several of his teeth were broken from the impact.
Because of these injuries, Dedre will be out of work due to his arms being immobilized for at least 40 days while he heals and recovers. During this time, he’s unable to provide for and support his family the way he always has. The medical bills, recovery costs, and everyday expenses will become overwhelming for our family.
Dedre has always been the type of person to help anyone in need, and now we’re asking for help for him. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean the world to our family. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Dedre in your prayers as he fights to recover.
Thank you all so much for your love, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
