Father Baptista and his brother and sister-in-law live in Elk Grove CA. Father Baptista is a retired Catholic priest that has been acting as the Knights of Columbus Chaplin for Laguna Council 11236 for quite some time. He started his liturgical career in the US as the Pastor for a number of parishes. He ultimately found his calling in the prison system fulfilling the work of Jesus Christ by supporting men and women in prison. Whether they were Catholic or not, he brought Jesus to them. Since his retirement, Father Baptista has filled in at Good Shepherd and St. Joseph's parishes saying masses, funerals and taking confessions. He has worked with the Works of Mercy ministry at Good Shepherd providing for the needy for over two (2) years now.

He lives with his 91-year-old handicapped brother and sister-in-law in Elk Grove and provides services where ever he is needed. He recently received some bad news. On December 20, Albert Baptista was taken to the emergency room due to shortness of breath and was given 3-6 months to live. The next day, on December 21 the sewer drain line under his house plugged and backed up into the bathtub and shower. They hired a plumber and found that the pipe under the house was broken and required a 25’ section to be replaced and epoxy coating applied to the remaining 38’. The total bill for this repair is $39,000. Being retired, he lives on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay this bill.
