Help Fanny hear so she can support her family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Merilee.
I am fundraising for Fanny. She lives in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco with a large extended family. Together they have 4 Girls - ages 3, 5, 11 & 13 and 2 boys - ages 6 & 10. I met Fanny when volunteering with Urban Angels SF distributing clothing to SF families in need.
Most of the family works in restaurants or in cleaning. Fanny is a waitress at a restaurant in the Castro. In addition to their jobs, the family caters their native Mexican food from the Yucatan Peninsula to supplement. COVID has been hard on these jobs; shut downs = no income.
4 months ago Fanny was suffering excruciating migraines. They were so bad, she reluctantly went to the ER, got an MRI and learned she had cancer. While she had surgery, is now cancer free and back to work, the stress from this was so bad, a nerve burst leaving her permanently deaf in her left ear.
"WHAT?" she keep having to say to the diners at her tables.
The restaurant is noisy and with only one ear, it is hard to work. Every order takes more time. Every order risks upsetting a customer with multiple "WHAT'S"?
Fanny's doctor told her there is a special hearing aid that will help her hear clearly again!!
BUT....
- It is $6,000....AND
- it is not covered by insurance!!
Will you please pitch in to get Fanny a hearing aid so she can keep waitressing & support her family?
Anything will help. Together we can show a mom who is working hard that her community cares!
