Fang has always been a happy, affectionate dog who brings so much joy to my life. Over the past three days, everything changed when he had to be rushed to the ER multiple times. Now, he’s being kept for 24-hour care after the nurses diagnosed him with Haemorrhagic gastroenteritis—a severe and sudden illness that can be fatal without immediate treatment, even in otherwise healthy dogs. Fang is currently on four different medications to help with his nonstop vomiting, nausea, pain, and lack of appetite. He’s very lethargic, has a fever, and there’s blood in his diarrhea. He’s even become aggressive when nurses touch his lower belly, which is so unlike his usual gentle self. Right now, he’s on an IV to fight dehydration, which, if not controlled, could quickly lead to hypovolemic shock and become life-threatening within just 24 hours. He hasn’t wanted to play, eat his favorite treats, or even smile in days. It’s heartbreaking to see him like this. The veterinary team has recommended a complete blood count, biochemical analysis, urinalysis, X-rays, coagulation tests, fecal evaluation, and possibly an ultrasound or endoscopic exam of his gastrointestinal tract. These are just some of the things I remember from my conversation with the nurse, and the costs are adding up fast. I am not one to ask for help, but I really need it right now. I cannot afford these bills on my own, and it kills me to think Fang might not get everything he needs if his hospital stay continues. Any support you can give will help Fang get the care he needs and give him a chance to recover. Thank you for caring about my sweet boy.
