Fancy Pants needs your help! On July 6th, 2017 our beloved zdonk (zebra, donkey cross) Fancy Pants all of a sudden became very ill. We immediately called our vet to help us. That's when we were informed that Fancy was colicing (an impaction colic to be exact, which is when a horse or donkeys intestine gets packed up with food and can no longer function properly. Horses and donkeys can't throw up so this could cause the intestine to die). We rushed Fancy Pants to the vet to get surgery, which thankfully went well. unfortunately the surgery cost was $10,000. Being a nonprofit organization it was hard for us to make this decision because of the cost, but we just couldn't find it in our hearts to euthanize her when you could tell she had such a strong will to live.
Fancy Pants came to us a few years ago when one of our volunteers found her on Craigslist (a very dangerous place for any animal to be sold from). Fancy was originally part of a traveling side show, but spent her days with us grazing in the paddock with her best friends. She stole our hearts as she gained our trust and transformed into the sweet girl we all know her as today.
Fancy Pants lives at Ray of Light Farm in East Haddam, CT. Once she comes home from the vet she would love a visit, she's always the first one to come up to the gate.
