Help Famoro, a Musician, Gain a Green Card!

Spende geschützt
Famoro Dioubate is a world-renowned musician, a balafonist, from Guinea in West Africa. (A balafon is similar to a xylophone.) His maternal great uncle, who taught him to play the balafon, was the legendary musician, El Hajd Djeli Surie Kouyate. Now 56 years old, Famoro has lived in the United States for 22 years. He has a daughter who lives near him in New York City. Much of his family, including Famoro's ailing mother, live in Guinea. He wants to become a U.S. citizen to continue living here without fear of deportation with daughter; to be able to travel freely to perform; and to visit his family, friends, and music colleagues in Africa.

The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically limited Famoro's ability to support himself and his family. That and the legal expenses needed to apply for citizenship combine to make this fund appeal necessary. Please give what you can to help Famoro Dioubate complete his long journey to U.S. citizenship. His victory will be a win for him and his family and for world music, including here in the U.S.
