No new parent should ever face what Andrea and Chris are living through. Just days after welcoming their baby girl, their world was shattered by a tragedy no family can prepare for.
The family had traveled to South Florida to introduce their newborn to loved ones. It was a joyful trip meant to surround her with family from the very beginning. Fire Marshals are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
What happened next is every parent’s worst nightmare.
The fire spread rapidly. Six fire trucks fought the blaze for more than five hours, but by the end, the home was buried in insulation, burned throughout, and declared a total loss.
Every room. Every memory. Every belonging.
Their baby’s nursery and every one of her newborn essentials, including clothing, blankets, supplies, and all the items lovingly prepared for her first months, is gone. The fire also destroyed valuable belongings the family planned to sell to start their daughter’s education fund, erasing dreams they had already begun building for her future.
The losses did not stop there.
Andrea, a self-employed massage therapist, lost her entire livelihood. Her sheets, oils, props, tools, and professional supplies were all destroyed. Replacing her business equipment alone will cost between $3,000 and $5,000, leaving her unable to work at the very moment her family needs stability most.
In addition to losing their home, the family also lost all of their computers and electronics. These were essential tools for work, communication, financial management, and daily life.
Replacing even the basics, including clothing, baby items, furniture, electronics, household necessities, and Andrea’s professional supplies, is overwhelming. Updated estimates place their total loss at between $45,000 and $60,000, not including temporary housing, lost income, or other unexpected expenses.
