Help family with finances and liver transplant
Donation protected
First and foremost, thank you so much for visiting Rufio’s Go Fund Me page. I don’t know how to begin except to say that this is my brother’s most desperate hour. Rufio was recently suffering from frequent high fevers, loss of energy and other symptoms. Something just wasn’t right so my mom pleaded with Rufio to see a doctor. To make a long story short Rufio was diagnosed with Cirrhosis, which is a late stage scaring of the liver. Rufio’s liver is no longer able to function properly on its own so he needs a liver transplant according to the doctors at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Rufio spent about a week at Scripps Mercy while doctors stabilized his condition. He’s at home now resting and awaiting to be put on the liver transplant list. We’re hoping he gets on the list February 13th.
Unfortunately the family is preparing for several different scenarios. There’s so many moving pieces and a lot can happen in the next few weeks. Simply put, Rufio’s doctors say he has about 90 days to live (from February 2 2023). The average wait for a liver transplant is 120 days. Rufio is committed to beating the 90 days to make it to his transplant if he is eligible for one. His spirits are high and he’s taking things day by day.
We love Rufio so much and we don’t want to lose him. He along with my family have dedicated our lives to being artists and creators. All Rufio has ever wanted was to create a community and safe spaces for people to express themselves, come together as family and enjoy music. We are a proud and hard working family. We don’t ask for too much help but this is a situation unlike anything we’ve faced before. Now we’re humbly turning to the community for help how ever small or large. Every penny counts and amounts to something bigger. I believe that Rufio can beat this with your help.
Because of all the unknowns, we’re raising money in different phases. This is the first phase which we hope will address Rufio’s expenses associated with his hospital stay at Scripps Mercy, his ongoing check ups until he gets his liver transplant, and to cover some living expenses as Rufio has not been able to work nor will he be able to work in any capacity until his transplant.
We’ll do our best to answer any questions the community may have about Rufio’s condition while at the same time, we ask for everyone’s patience as we navigate all of the communication from those who love my brother so much.
Thank you all so much for your time and generosity,
Love Eli Sarai Gracida
