Help family w Funeral expenses for Richard Smith

Today May 7th, 2023 My father (Richard A Smith) was taken off of life support after fighting for his life for nearly 3 weeks, due to injuries caused by an accident when the vehicle he was in got hit by a drunk driver, recklessly evading arrest.

The accident caused my dad to be fully paralyzed from the shoulders down due to a spinal injury, ruptured arteries, a brain injury, and multiple strokes. Also making him unable to breathe on his own as well as not have a functioning blood pressure. The hospital said my Father would not recover.

He would have had to live the rest of his life on life support, unable to move, talk, or eat in a nursing home.

Knowing my father, The energetic, charismatic man he is. He would never be okay with living like that. And I nor my brother was willing to make him do so against his wishes.

My father, Richard Allen Smith, passed away today, Sunday, with dignity. He fought so hard for every last second he had to spend with his children & family.

A child is never ready to bury a parent. Especially when it happens a day unexpected, way too soon, in such a tragic way. But unfortunately we have no choice and I'm not financially prepared for this at all. We have made this GoFundMe in hopes of getting some help & support towards the costs from friends, family, and the community. He preferred to go by "Ricky" and always loved being part of the community of Chester. He had a big impact on a lot of people and was like a father figure to many. Myself and our family would highly appreciate any donations towards his cremation and ceremony. Thank you very much.
