Why They Need Your Help

Life has thrown a lot at the Bello family over the past few years — like it has for so many of us. When the pandemic hit, Jessica and Michael were adjusting to life as a family of four, with a newborn and a seven-year-old at home. Overnight, Michael's 25+ year music career disappeared, and Jessica — a longtime Prenatal Lead Clinician at Planned Parenthood — became the family's sole provider.

Michael stepped into the full-time caregiver role, pouring himself into raising their two boys, Emilio and Casey, while Jessica continued her work on the frontlines of reproductive and prenatal healthcare. It was an act of love — but over time, the cracks in this dynamic began to show.

Michael was cut off from music and Jessica was burned out by the increasingly under-resourced medical system. And their kids, needing more than the average school or schedule could give, had been showing signs that things needed to change. Jessica and Michael knew their family’s emotional, mental, and physical health depended on doing something different, but they were continuously stuck in the cycle of "just getting by."

By late 2024, their last thread of stability was pulled when Jessica’s Prenatal Care Program was unexpectedly shut down. After 20 years of service in a specialized field, her role had disappeared.

Where The Idea Came From

Instead of collapsing under the weight of it all, Jessica and Michael have chosen to dream.

When music fell out of reach for Michael, his creativity found a new home in the kitchen. Cooking became his way of caring for his family, and a source of joy and expression. If you’ve ever shared a meal with him, you know his food is soulful, intentional, and full of love.

That quiet creativity sparked something new. Finding moments of connection in the kitchen, sharing meals and their special love for coffee, Michael and Jessica realized that it was about the ritual, the way it gathers people, the way it connected them.

One day, the vision clicked:
What if they built a small family-run coffee business — one that supports their family, nurtures creativity, and connects them more deeply to the people around them?

This idea was born not just from necessity, but from a reckoning that happened during the pandemic. They experienced how isolating modern family life can be and realized that what families need most is connection. Shared meals, shared care, shared presence.

Their dream is to create a mobile coffee business where neighbors become friends, where care is exchanged as freely as conversation, and where families don’t have to feel so alone.

How Your Support Will Help

Launching a business takes A LOT! After already functioning under strain the Bellos are bravely investing everything they can into their dream.

They are hoping to raise $20,000 to purchase all the equipment needed for a sustainably operating mobile coffee cart. This includes

  • cart
  • awning
  • grinder
  • plumbing
  • refrigerator
  • espresso machine
  • green/sustainable battery system

By helping fund the equipment, you're helping launch not just a business, but a new start for this family that is rooted in connection.

If you’ve ever been touched by Jessica’s compassionate care, Michael’s music, their food, or their friendship — now’s your chance to be part of their next chapter. Let’s help the Bello family turn this dream into reality!

With care,
Adrian Bello (Michaels sister and Auntie to Emilio and Casey)
