Help Family Secure Housing
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Rebecca and I have a precious family that is very near and dear to my heart that recently fell on hard times. The family consists of a husband (62), wife (58), and their son who has autism (34). They were notified by their landlord on October 21, 2024 that they must vacant the home immediately, as the landlord just sold the house. Thankfully, according to Georgia law, the landlord has to give a 60-day written notice to their tenants for eviction. This has given them very little time to find adequate housing. The family is also on a fixed income. The husband has battled through some terrible health issues, which include multiple heart attacks. His health is unfortunately declining and all he wants to do is make sure his wife and son are safe and taken care of. The wife has faced health issues since she was a child and suffers from short-term memory loss due to a brain injury. Their precious son was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, which is on the autism spectrum, when he was 2 years old. He is unable to work and relies on care from his father and mother. They are on the waitlist for government (HUD) housing, but were told that this could be a 6-month wait. They are currently filling out applications for other apartments in their area. The unfortunate problem is that they were only paying $250 in rent in their current home and are now faced increased rent and security deposits, which they can’t afford. One apartment they applied for will be ready at the end of November is asking $815/month in rent and an $815 security deposit. From what I was told, they are next in line for this apartment. As stated before, they are on a fixed income and need a place to live ASAP. They also have to cover all utilities, groceries, medications, and doctor’s visits. I am asking for donations to help this family cover 6-months of rent and their security deposit until an income-based apartment is available for them to rent.
I know this is a tough ask as we are approaching the holiday season, but I am asking you to please consider giving to this family. If you cannot give, please consider sharing. Thank you so much and God Bless!
