Help Family Overcome Housing and Health Crisis

Donation protected

Please watch! We are a family of five living with disability. We have been displaced 4 times in the past six years by circumstances related to disability or institutional abuse. In 2020 we lost our home and nearly everything we owned to mold. When a faulty HVAC system caused a leak, mold formed behind the walls and under the floorboards. Alongside losing our home and belongings, we spent thousands of dollars, per person, to recover from mold toxicity.

Then, in late 2022-2023 our family was poisoned for 14 months by hydrogen sulfide. The gas leak originated because the toilets in the above apartment were not sealed properly. At first maintenance did not believe us because the plumbing was designed to prevent hydrogen sulfide leaks. However, we eventually bought an industry standard gas detector, proving the gas was present. While maintenance did finally find the problem and fix the issue, our family was stuck with thousands of dollars in recovery and PTSD.

In 2023 we were invited to attend seminary for my husband to pursue doctoral work. Although we were exceptionally clear up front and serious about our families life-threatening reactions to the mycotoxins found in water damaged building material, and were assured the apartment had no water damaged building materials, here we are living in an apartment that clearly has water damaged building materials. Every member of our family is sick, again. We spent $10,000+ of our last dollars to move, only to get sick again.

Our family is in a crisis. We are stuck where we're at until our lease runs out this Summer. We are anticipating thousands of dollars for each member of our family to detox and recover from mold toxicity, again. We have no place to go once our lease runs out. The doctoral program my husband was invited to would have been a 3 year program. The institution, after hearing about our run-ins with mold and hydrogen sulfide poisoning invited us to move here 1 year early to heal physically, mentally and emotionally. Unfortunately, our experience has been the opposite. We had anticipated living in the seminary campus housing for a total of 4 years, now after only 10 months, we are faced with impending homelessness.

In what has been a humbling and traumatic experience, we have been too sick to work since the gas leak started. As a family affected by disability it is our hope to live in an environment where we may heal and eventually help other families heal and recover from chronic illness from environmental toxins and CPTSD.

We depleted every resource available to us to get here believing we would have housing security for 4 years. We are losing all of our belongings again because we cant risk recontamination in a new environment. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign.

ATTN: WATCH TILL THE END TO HEAR OUR CRAZY PLAN TO SURVIVE THIS!!! Please ask questions: We are going to follow this up with shorter videos about our experiences. Although we have to be vague publicly, we have everything well documented.
