Help Ken Jordan's Family After His Sudden Passing

Donation protected
With heavy hearts, we share that Ken Jordan died suddenly, from a fatal infection, on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 62. Ken was not only a creative innovator and visionary in the earliest days of the Internet, but he was also an idealist whose overflowing generosity built a community for many people.

His shocked and grieving family now needs support to cover unanticipated expenses. He leaves behind a 14-year-old son, the love of his life, who now faces an uncertain financial future without his father. Ken was his son's best friend. While Ken leaves behind a legacy of service for the public good, he did not leave a financial legacy for his family, and had no life insurance. In fact, the situation is dire and the family needs your help to pay everyday expenses in NYC such as last month's rent so they can stay in their home. Other immediate needs include: groceries, funeral expenses, legal fees, insurance, transportation, health care, paying off debt, grief therapy, travel for supporting family, long-term education costs, and other daily expenses. Unlike so many other architects of the digital revolution, Ken was never financially rewarded for his work. He worked relentlessly, driven by a deep belief in the betterment of humankind. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference during this difficult time.

A true renaissance man, Ken was an important leader at the intersections of the arts, activism, and community development.
Ken ardently supported other people and their visions - whether in the tech space, the arts, or consciousness communities - with his profound ability to empathize, strategize and help others realize their potential. He was a compassionate mentor, a guide, and a great colleague.

Ken was a trailblazer, one of those rare people who could communicate complexities with a wider general public. He launched the first multimedia music zine, as well as the first digital music store, SonicNet.com, which was named best website of 1995 by Entertainment Weekly, and won the first Webby award for a music site before being acquired by MTV. Other groundbreaking highlights include his co-edited anthology Multimedia: From Wagner to Virtual Reality (2002) and launching the public interest portal MediaChannel.org. In 2002, Ken developed the blueprint for the Augmented Social Network, a futuristic vision of a democratic and publicly accountable social media platform.

Ken dedicated the last 20 years to cultivating community and providing education in the consciousness space through projects like Evolver, Reality Sandwich, The Alchemist’s Kitchen, and Lucid News, where his work will continue through his colleagues. Ken was a gifted journalist and editor who had an expansive worldview connecting communities of writers, thinkers and activists, always leading with his heart and his commitment to collective spiritual awakening.

Thank you for joining us in supporting Ken's family in this difficult time.
