Help Family of 5 Rebuild After a Devastating Car Accident
The Gouveia family has always been resilient, overcoming the challenges they have been faced with. However, a few weeks ago, their lives took a devastating turn when a reckless driver rear-ended their car at high speed, spinning them around before hitting them head-on.
The impact of the collision left both Christopher and his fiancé with numerous injuries—his fiancé suffering the most severe. As a result, neither of them can work at this time, and they have three children who depend on them.
This accident could not have come at a worse time, Christopher had previously been off work for six years due to a serious back injury, receiving WSIB benefits during that time. When he finally found work that he could manage, it was a relief to be back on his feet. Unfortunately, in 2022, another devastating setback occurred—he suffered a broken talus and a concussion after falling on ice while delivering a package. That injury kept him out of work for 10 months, forcing the family into significant debt.
Determined to rebuild, Christopher worked seven days a week for the past two years to support his family and regain financial stability. Slowly but surely, they were making progress.
Then, this accident took everything from them.
They lost their only vehicle and now have no way to get to their physio and rehabilitation appointments, which are 45 minutes away, let alone manage their daily responsibilities. To make matters worse, despite purchasing gap insurance to protect themselves from financial loss, their claim was denied due to exceeding the annual mileage limit. This has left them with over $20,000 still owed on a car that no longer exists.
The reckless actions of another driver have left the Gouveia family physically injured, financially devastated, and struggling to keep their household afloat. They are doing their best to stay positive, but it is heartbreaking to watch everything they have worked for slip away.
They are reaching out for support—anything helps, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing their story. Your kindness can help them get back on their feet, cover essential expenses, and provide some stability for their children as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
From the bottom of their hearts, the Gouveia family thanks you for any support you can offer.
Your donation, no matter the size, can make a big difference for this family; even the simple act of sharing this campaign with your networks can help to spread the word. Please help us rally around the Gouveia’s during a time when they are in need and show them the power of community support.
