My name is Ahmed; I am 16 years old and from northern G a z a. I support a family of 12, and this is the year of my Tawjihi (final high school) exams. For as long as I can remember, wars have plagued us one after another. In the most recent war, I lost many friends and family members; my brother was injured, a friend was killed, our home was demolished, and my father’s shop was destroyed, leaving us without work. I dream of studying just like children elsewhere in the world; it is my right to learn and live in safety. We are living in street-side tents plagued by insects, enduring scorching summer heat and biting winter cold. I occasionally sell sweets to support my family, as my father is ill and my mother is elderly and suffers from health issues caused by cooking over open fires. Please, do not abandon me and my family; I have the right to live in safety and peace, and to pursue an education so I can become a doctor.
