Help family escape horror of Gaza

First I want to say thank you deeply from my heart for your kind and generous donations to this campaign to help this family escape the terror that they have been living under for many months since October.

Without you the family would have like hope of once again having safe lives and again helping the creatures they care deeply for.

With that said, the family has asked me to increase the amount by $10kusd so that they may be able to pay for housing and medical care for Mayar.

All I can say is that everyone who has contributed already has made a huge difference for them pleas share and I am hopeful that the additional campaign request can be met. Thank you all.

Hello, my friends! My name is Sarah Marincic. I live in the United States. I am a Care Manager for individuals with disabilities, though due to long term aftereffects of Covid 19 and on leave and not working til my health improves, I am helping my friend Mayar Adel Yacoub, her father, her mother, her brother, her sister, and her cousin raise funds to leave Gaza.

As many of you may know, my friend Mayar and her brother, Ahmed run a shelter for homeless cats in Rafah, where she cares for them, feeds them, and treats their wounds. She gives it her all, trying to provide a better life for them. (You can find her on Twitter/X @catspoor5, where you can find many videos and photographs of her cat shelter). Mayar (16) lives with her father Adel (60), her mother Thani (54), her brother Ahmed (33), her sister Mena (20), and her cousin Thani (20).

On October 7, war came to Gaza. Mayar and her family lost their home, their cat shelter, and their livelihood, leaving them with nothing but each other. Mayar has been injured and needs medical care she is unable to obtain in wartorn Gaza City. Mayar and her family want nothing more than to escape Gaza and find safety in Egypt.

Currently, they have already raised most of the money they need for the passage, but as they were preparing to leave, they learned of unexpected travel expenses. At the border, they were told that the money they had would allow them to leave in 40 days, but that if they were able to obtain another $15,000 ($2500 per person), they would be allowed to cross in 3 days. As the situation gets worse by the day in Gaza, I am sure you can imagine the danger of waiting the full 40 days they've been asked to wait, and likewise, I'm sure you can imagine how grateful and relieved Mayar and her family would be if they were able to leave in 3 days.

For this reason, I am asking you to help them raise the $15,000 they need to leave Gaza quickly. The money will be used to pay for the border crossing and any additional fees to arrange their travel through the Ya Hala Company. Upon the completion of the campaign, I will transfer the funds to Mayar and her family so that they can register for the crossing and reach safety.
