Bright Path Advocacy Access Fund
Navigating the special education process can feel overwhelming for many families. Understanding evaluations, IEPs, documentation, and procedural safeguards often requires time, knowledge, and guidance that many parents simply don’t have access to.
Through Bright Path Special Education Advocacy & IEP Support Services, I work with families to help them better understand their child’s educational rights and navigate the special education process with greater clarity and confidence.
Why I Started Bright Path
During my time working as a special education teacher in Oklahoma public schools, I saw how complex the special education system can be for families trying to advocate for their children.
Many parents deeply care about their child’s education and want to support their success, but they often feel overwhelmed by the processes involved in evaluations, IEP meetings, documentation, and school communication.
I also saw how educators themselves are often navigating district policies, procedures, and limited resources while trying to support students as best they can.
Over time, it became clear that many challenges in special education are not the result of families or educators not caring—but rather a lack of access to clear information and guidance about the process.
Bright Path was created to help bridge that gap by providing families with guidance that helps them better understand the system and participate confidently in decisions about their child’s education.
What Advocacy Support Looks Like
Advocacy support may include:
• reviewing evaluations and IEP documents
• helping families understand school documentation
• preparing parents for school meetings
• helping organize questions and concerns
• attending meetings when appropriate
• helping families understand next steps in the process
Advocacy work often involves many hours of preparation and behind-the-scenes review to ensure families feel informed and supported.
Every child’s situation is unique, and advocacy support is tailored to the individual needs of each student and family.
Why This Fund Was Created
Since starting this work, I have had many families reach out who needed support navigating the special education process but were facing financial barriers that made accessing advocacy services difficult.
The Bright Path Advocacy Access Fund was created to help ensure families can still access advocacy guidance when those barriers exist.
Through this fund, Bright Path can offer reduced-fee or fully donor-supported advocacy support to families navigating special education who may not otherwise be able to afford services.
Why Advocacy Matters
Many parents are doing everything they can to support their child, but the special education system can be difficult to navigate without guidance.
Advocacy helps families:
• understand their child’s educational rights
• interpret evaluations and IEP documents
• participate confidently in school meetings
• ensure student needs remain the focus of educational decision-making
When families are informed and supported, it encourages clearer communication, stronger collaboration, and better decisions for students.
How Donations Help Families
Because Bright Path intentionally keeps services affordable, even small contributions can make a meaningful difference.
$75 supports a consultation for a family seeking guidance
$190 supports two hours of advocacy support
$250 supports IEP meeting advocacy
$500 helps provide multiple consultations and advocacy hours for families navigating complex situations
Our Goal
The initial goal of this fundraiser is $8,500.
At Bright Path’s service rates, this amount could provide approximately:
• 113 consultations for families seeking guidance
or
• 89 hours of advocacy support
or
support for 15–25 families navigating special education, depending on the level of assistance needed.

Why This Work Matters
Every meaningful change in special education often begins the same way:
A parent asking questions.
Learning their rights.
And advocating for their child.
The goal of the Bright Path Advocacy Access Fund is to help ensure that financial barriers do not prevent families from accessing the guidance they need during that process.
Your support helps families better understand the system, navigate difficult decisions, and advocate more confidently for their children.
If this resource reaches families who may benefit from it, sharing this fundraiser can also help expand access to advocacy support for families navigating special education.
Thank you for supporting students and families in our community.
