Help My Family and Community Rebuild After the Devastating Mindanao 7.8 magnitude Earthquake
My heart is broken as I write this.
On June 8, 2026, a powerful earthquake struck Mindanao, leaving a trail of destruction across General Santos City, Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur, Sarangani Province, and nearby communities. What was once a place filled with family, memories, and laughter has been transformed into scenes of fear, devastation, and uncertainty.
This disaster is deeply personal to me.
My aunt, uncle, cousins, relatives, and many people in our community have lost their homes. In a matter of moments, everything they worked so hard for was destroyed. Homes that once provided safety and comfort are now damaged or gone. Precious belongings, family memories, and the security they once knew have been taken away.
Many families are now sleeping in evacuation centers, temporary shelters, or outdoors, afraid to return home because of continuing aftershocks. Parents are struggling to provide food and clean water for their children. Elderly family members are facing uncertainty and hardship. Many people have no idea how they will rebuild their lives in the days and months ahead.
As I speak with my relatives and see the heartbreaking images coming from home, I feel helpless being so far away. This fundraiser is my way of reaching out and asking for help on their behalf.
The funds raised will go toward providing emergency food, clean drinking water, medicine, hygiene supplies, clothing, blankets, temporary shelter materials, and other essential needs for affected families. Any remaining funds will help families begin rebuilding what they have lost.
No amount is too small. Even a small donation can provide a meal, clean water, or basic necessities for a family trying to survive this tragedy. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Today, I am asking for your compassion and generosity. My family and community need help. Together, we can bring hope to those who have lost so much and remind them that they are not facing this disaster alone.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your prayers, kindness, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Cathelyn Dela Peña
