Hi, my name is Aileen Deloof. I'm half Belgian, half Filipina. My mom is from the Philippines, and we still have family living in the Cebu area. Some of them were severely affected by Typhoon Fung-Wong - my mom’s uncle lost all his clothes and furniture, and her nephew’s house was completely destroyed by flooding. They’ve been left with nothing.

There was a viral video of a mother and her child sitting on the roof as floodwaters reached the first floor. The child said, “Mommy, we lost everything,” and the mother replied, “It’s ok, anak, we can have everything again.” This shows the incredible resilience of the Filipino people even in the face of such devastation.

I am raising funds to help my family and other affected relatives in Cebu rebuild their homes and replace essential belongings such as clothing, furniture, basic household items, and emergency supplies. The funds will go directly to them to cover these needs. I will personally oversee the distribution of the money to ensure it is spent exactly as described.

Sommigen van hen zijn zwaar getroffen door tyfoon Fung-Wong - de nonkel van mijn mama verloor al zijn kleding en meubels, en het huis van haar neef werd volledig verwoest door de overstroming. Ze zijn alles kwijt.

Er was een viral video van een mama en haar kindje die op het dak van hun huis zaten, omdat het water tot de eerste verdieping kwam. Het kindje zei: “Mama, we hebben alles verloren,” en de moeder antwoordde: “Het is ok, anak, we kunnen alles weer hebben.” Dit laat zien hoe ongelooflijk veerkrachtig de Filipijnse mensen zijn, zelfs in zulke verwoestende tijden.

Ik haal geld op om mijn familie en andere getroffen familieleden in Cebu te helpen hun huizen te herbouwen en essentiële spullen zoals kleding, meubels, basisbenodigdheden en noodvoorzieningen te vervangen. De fondsen gaan rechtstreeks naar hen en ik zal persoonlijk toezien op de verdeling om te zorgen dat het geld precies wordt besteed zoals beschreven.
