We're a collection of friends and work colleagues from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

We’ve started this fund to help 6 families close to us rebuild their lives as a result of the life-changing disaster that is currently happening. They live in the metropolitan areas Igrejinha, Montenegro, Canoas and Porto Alegre city itself. They have lost their homes, their belongings, their businesses and their communities.

Over the last two weeks the people of Rio Grande do Sul, are experiencing unprecedented devastation wreaked by flooding and overflowing rivers due to torrential rains. Two-thirds of the state’s 497 cities were affected. Entire towns have been submerged, roads blocked, bridges collapsed, a major dam partially broken as well as power outages and water cuts…and more rain has been forecast.

Officials have said that the floods are the worst natural calamity ever to hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre has an estimated 1.3 million people and of that more than 160,000 people have been impacted.

My friends and I would be most grateful for any contribution you can make, it all makes a difference.
