Help Families Affected by ICE in Minneapolis

Donation protected
My dear friend is an early childhood educator with Spanish-speaking families in Minneapolis. This fundraiser is for the immigrant families she works with directly who are being impacted by the violent ICE occupation in Minneapolis. Many of these families are struggling economically due to family members being detained and/or being too afraid to leave home to go to work. Funds will go towards rent, food, and legal support for families impacted. Funds will be divided equitably and transferred directly to the students’ families via Zelle or cashier’s check for landlords.

How it will work:
The recipients of the funds are parents (mothers) of young children who are students in my friend’s early childhood education classes in Minneapolis. They, and their spouses and other family members, have not been able to work due to the threat of unlawful detentions in our community. Two of them so far have had family members (husband, brother) who were wage earners taken from them.

We have been helping them with donated food and other supplies like diapers and this money will be used to help pay their rents and for 8 families, also their utility bills for February. Once we have the funds, her husband Eduardo will pay the rents as follows according to how the families usually pay rents and have asked him to do it: 7 families have requested sending the funds through Zelle (ranging from $600 to $2000) to their accounts once they pay the rent they will provide receipts for documentation, 8 families will receive cash and also provide receipts for documentation. 2 families have requested that he pay the landlord directly through company websites, two other families are being forced to move and he will be helping one pay the deposit on the new apartment and the other one he is still helping find a new apartment.
