HELP FALLONS THYROIDECTOMY JOURNEY
Donación protegida
After over a year of telling doctors it hurt to touch her throat, mood swings, hot flashes and depression, Fallon finally got someone to listen to her... her gyno. Her gyno knew something was wrong and sent her to a great doctor. He quickly had all the right tests done, ultrasound, cat scan, antibody test and biopsy after seeing something wrong in the ultrasound. Waiting for the results of the biopsy was mentally exhausting. Finally the results came back and it was not what we all wanted to hear... she had thyroid cancer in the right side. How can this be... she is only 25. Our family was devastated! Years before we had lost her sister to complications from a car accident, so the thoughts of possibly losing Fallon was beyond comprehension. The surgery was scheduled for for weeks later. The wait was also mentally exhausting! Finally the day arrived. We were all very nervous. She was supposed to be in surgery for about 1 1/2 hrs, but her surgery took almost 5. When the surgery was complete, the doctor told us when they opened her up, the cancer had spread to the left side also, so they had to completely remove her thyroid. They also had to remove 10 lymph nodes (4 of which tested positive for cancer )and a parathyroid. Fallon's journey begins now with recovery. The doctors are working on getting her medication just right. She will be doing a radiation treatment as soon as she is healed, which should be in about 7 weeks. The radiation treatment lasts a week. At that time, she cannot have direct contact with anyone. Our hopes are the radiation will kill any cancer that may be lingering. Please pray for Fallon. Any help you can give is very much appreciated to help pay her medical bills. God Bless.
