Hello all! I am starting a fundraiser to help get a new kidney. I have kidney failure with kidney function less than 10%. I am currently on home dialysis since once your kidney falls below a certain percentage they recommend dialysis. I have been on home dialysis for over 2 years and am still on waiting list for a kidney. I am asking for help with my medical bills. I was on my husband’s insurance but had to drop his insurance in order to qualify for a kidney transplant. So I had to sign up for Medicare which by itself is triple the monthly cost and only has a fraction of the coverage. This does not include my dozens of prescriptions, dental, eye, etc. I am unable to work as well since that would also disqualify me from needed programs. Plus it is hard to work with my many doctor appointments and tests that are required almost weekly. My husband and I have depleted most of our savings just to try and keep up with the bills. I feel like a ship taking on water slowly. I have made payment arrangements with those will let me while others insist that I must pay immediately in order to stay eligible for the kidney donation list. All donations will be used for past, present and future medical expenses. Thank you!
Due to me being on Medicare and for a live donor transplant, I am responsible for 20% of the total cost of surgery. The average surgery costs 500k, so they say to expect about 50,000$ in surgery costs. This is separate from the additional after care costs of medication and follow up doctors.
September 2024 update:
I recently did have to forego a medication due to cost. I am trying to apply for programs but it takes time. In that time I cannot take this medication. This is just one of 25 medications that I take.
I am very thankful to all of you that have helped me financially, emotionally, spiritually, and more! Thank you
Fallon
