Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, after hours in the emergency vet, Faline was tentatively diagnosed with lymphoma. A few days later, her diagnosis was confirmed. To say I am devastated would be a gross understatement. Faline is only 5, and truly the best dog I have ever had or could hope to have. Faline has cultivated a fan club over the years, and collects new members every time she is out and about. So many people come up to me to ask to take photos of her, which sounds bizarre, but she loves. She is truly that easy to love.
With this diagnosis came more bad news. Lymphoma, specifically large cell lymphoma in her t-cells, is very aggressive. This explains how my perfectly healthy dog developed symptoms seemingly overnight. Without treatment I am told dogs typically succumb in 6 to 8 weeks. While, with chemotherapy and steroids, her life expectancy is 6 to 10 months. While I was immediately willing to do whatever treatment I could to both extend her life while maintaining its quality, I was also shocked at just how expensive treatment would be. Which leads me here. I didn’t expect to be in a position to be asking for help, but Faline means so much to me and others, that I had to try. This goal represents less than half of the expected cost of her treatment. Whatever donations are received will be so appreciated so we can make the most of the time we have left. I will never stop telling everyone how good of a dog Faline is, or feeling truly lucky I get to have her in my life - even if only for a short time. Thank you.
