Our beautiful and beloved 2.5 year old male Sheltie, Falcon, tore his superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) in his right back leg, which has severely impacted his way of life and he needs surgery. It has been causing hind limb lameness, limping, and the muscles and tendons in his leg will pop out of place, causing pain and swelling in his leg. The injury caused our poor puppy-son to fall into a 3-day panic attack where he would not walk or potty on his own and he had to have the veterinarian empty his system so he would not rupture his bladder or intestines. After 3 days of working hard with Falcon with treats and gentle encouragement, Matthew and I got him walking (albeit very slowly) and pottying on his own, which was a huge achievement! It’s been a very stressful and traumatic couple of weeks, but we found an Orthopedic surgeon that is confident she will be able to surgically fix his tendon and he will be able to return to normal!
We are raising money to fund his surgery because this is a very specialized surgery that will be done at an Orthopedic Surgeon and costs approximately $5,000. It is scheduled for 4/16/2025 and he will be in recovery with a splint for 8 weeks and then another 4 weeks with a soft bandage. This is going to be very difficult for our puppy because he absolutely loves to run and play with his doggy-brother, Rocket and he will not be allowed to walk further than a few feet, jump, run, or do any type of strenuous activity for 3 months. After the recovery period, it is also possible that he may need some physical therapy which would be an extra cost. It also already cost approx. $2,000 to get him diagnosed with X-rays and multiple vet visits, so this has become an unexpected and large financial burden on Matthew and I. This is why we have created this GoFundMe, to humbly ask for help for our puppy, Falcon.
Falcon is more than our pet he is our baby and we are ready to do everything to help him get back to doing what he loves!! He loves to run, play chase, and jump as high as he can to catch toys! If you have ever known a Sheltie, you know that running is what they are best at!
We humbly thank you for your help in donating or sharing this campaign! We will do anything for our baby and if you can please support his surgery we would sincerely appreciate it!
