Help Faith Diaz Recover From Her Bike Accident!
Donation protected
On Saturday, March 25th Faith Diaz was involved in a serious bike accident on her way home from work. When the brakes on her bike failed to work while going down a very steep hill, Faith lost control and crashed into a tree. In immense pain from two broken wrists, Faith managed to dial 911 and call for help on her own, it is thanks to Efren (the security guard at her work) that the EMTs were able to locate her and bring her to the hospital. Faith spent a long night at the hospital after undergoing two emergency surgeries the day of, with another surgery on Friday the 31st with a specialized hand surgeon. Faith's recovery will be slow as the accident left her with minimal movement in both her hands, bruises on her sides and stitches in her left leg which has caused her to be out of work for the next following months while she undergoes physical therapy to strengthen the use of her hands. An employee of El Encanto hotel, Faith is here in Santa Barbara on an internship program from the Philippines, her family doing their best to support her from over 7,000 miles away. The three surgeries, an overnight stay in Cottage Hospital, and an ambulance will take a significant financial toll on Faith and her family and her insurance has informed her that they will not be helping with the medical bills. With a long road to recovery in front of her and needing 24 hr care, please consider helping Faith focus on the rehabilitation of her hands rather than having to worry about her financial burden.
