Our national hero, Brother Murad Islam, suffered a gunshot wound on July 18th. For four months, he went back and forth between the ICU and a hospital bed. He is now receiving therapy at Vejthani Hospital, thanks to government support. However, despite the government covering his therapy costs, his family faces significant expenses while living abroad. As the eldest son and head of the household, Brother Murad's family is struggling to make ends meet. I appeal to all compassionate individuals to support him during this difficult time. May God ease our burdens, and may our contributions, no matter how small, be rewarded with blessings from Almighty.

A bullet changed everything.
Fahim (16), a student from Bangladesh, was once like any other teenager, full of dreams, energy and hope. He was the youngest of the family, a bright student, a promising football player, and a loving son who brought joy to everyone around him. Just weeks ago, he had the possibility of attending a good college, being a good footballer. This boy with immense possibility was studying at a college even some days ago.
However, August 4, 2024, changed everything. Fahim’s life took a tragic turn.
His beloved country, Bangladesh, was in turmoil. The streets were filled with cries for justice as people rose up against the oppression by the autocrat, demanding their rights. Countless people were losing lives daily. Fahim, with the fire of burning patriotism, could not stand by and watch his fellow brothers die. Despite his family’s desperate attempts to keep him safe, he knew he had a duty to his people, to his land, to the ideals that made Bangladesh the proud nation it is.
On 18 July 2024, he was shot by a rubber bullet while protesting against the discrimination. After that, his family begged for him to stay home, to stay out of harm's way. But little Fahim’s love for his country was too strong. On August 4, Fahim left home, not telling anyone, to fight alongside his brothers for his country. That day as he was standing shoulder to shoulder with his fellow warriors proudly, tragedy struck. A bullet, fired by those who sought to silence the voices of freedom, hit Fahim in the spine.
Fahim was rushed to the National Institute of Neuro Sciences & Hospital in Bangladesh. The doctors did all they could to remove the bullet, but the damage was done. Both of his nerves were severely injured, leaving him unable to move his legs. The boy who took the responsibility of freeing his country on his shoulder now lies in a hospital bed, wondering if he would ever stand on his own two feet and play football.
However, there is a hope of therapy in Singapore that could help Fahim regain the use of his legs. This therapy, though expensive, is the only chance Fahim has to return to the life he once knew. To walk again, to run, to play football, and to continue being the symbol of hope and resilience that he was born to be.
Yet, the cost of this life saving therapy is beyond what Fahim's family can afford. His father is battling illness and cannot work. His brother is the sole earner of the family struggles to make ends meet. The expenses for travel, treatment, and therapy are overwhelming, and every passing day without this treatment brings Fahim closer to a lifetime of paralysis.
Fahim’s mother, a woman who has already given so much to the country weeps uncontrollably saying “My son helped in liberating the country but he could not attend the victory march. Can my son ever play football again?”. Her voice filled with the pain of a mother who has watched her child suffer for the nation they both love.
Fahim’s story is not just a personal tragedy, there are countless Fahims who were shot mercilessly by the tyrannical regime. This brave young boy deserves the chance to walk again, to feel the pride of standing tall in a free Bangladesh. He deserves to live the life he fought for, a life filled with promise, joy, and the unyielding spirit of our nation. However, he cannot do it alone. Your support can give Fahim the therapy he needs, the chance to walk again and the future he so courageously fought for.
#additional suggestion as people can ask why the government is not helping -
The new government is striving to cover the medical costs for all those injured in the recent turmoil. But the sheer number of people in need is overwhelming. Hospitals are filled with the cries of the wounded, each story as heartbreaking as the next. Though treatment within Bangladesh is now free, the government, burdened by the sheer scale of the tragedy, is unable to fund any treatment abroad at this time.
