Help Fae get Gender Reassignment Surgery
Donation protected
Hey,
As most of you know my name is Fae, I am Trans Woman living in East London. I have been on the GIC waiting list (NHS services for Gender) for 2 years and 9 months. I just received a message from the GIC that my referral would not be processed for another 3 years. This is to get a first ever appointment with the NHS for basic services that should be provided for free. For surgery, I am probably looking at 5-7 years out and I can't bear thinking that I will have to live with the wrong genitals until I am 35. At that point, who knows if the UK government will still be providing services to Trans people of if they will simply decide, as they have claimed many times before, that we simply don't exist and don't deserve anything.
It is beyond sad to see the cruelty with which we are being treated by the government, by the NHS, by the GIC, and the unbearable waiting time that we are subject to, just to be seen by someone. With that in mind, I have more or less decided that going private is my only viable option. I am still hesitating between the right country for surgery at the moment.
I work as a French teacher on a zero-hour contract and my income does not begin to cover what I need ahead of the surgery, let alone for the surgery itself.
I just really need help to get this done as soon as possible so I can live as I was meant to and not with massive dysphoria.
Please help if you can and share widely,
Thank you so much and please message me if you have any questions.
In solidarity,
Fae
