My name is Fabian, and I am currently on dialysis with stage 5 renal kidney failure. Recently, I was hospitalized for sepsis caused by an infection in my dialysis port, and soon after, I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), which took away my ability to walk. With so much happening at once, my ability to work became nonexistent. I’ve lost my car, my apartment, and most of my belongings. The disability process is taking much longer than I expected, and I am still finding new things that need to be filed for completion.
Despite these challenges, I am working hard to adapt to my new normal. I may not be able to return to my old job, but I am also a barber and have been looking into locations where I can cut hair and serve the community. If that isn’t possible, I hope to start a hot shot business to take loads, or find another way to work while making it to my dialysis treatments three times a week. My family and friends have helped as much as they can, and I am grateful for their support, but right now, I need help to get back to doing more for myself.
Donations will go toward barber locations and supplies, housing, and transportation needs. If possible, I hope to combine housing and my barber workspace so I can work and live in the same place. Whatever can be accomplished will be managed, and I am committed to giving back by offering affordable hair care to the community. Thank you for any support you can provide—it means the world to me.
