This GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of Joe Bernal by his work family at Reformation. We set this up in order to help him and his family with the medical bills they have accumulated due to their son's heart condition. We'd also like to help with the future medical bills they will be hit with when their son has his next surgery.
Joe is a beloved member of the Ref family and we want to help him out however we can!
A note from Fabian's dad, Joe:
My son's name is Fabian Alexander Bernal, he is 4 years old. Right after his birth he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with an absent pulmonary valve.
One of the abnormalities with his heart was a hole in the division of the two bottom chambers of his heart, causing his oxygenated & non-oxygenated blood to get mixed together.
Due to the severity of this condition he underwent a open heart surgery 4 weeks after his birth. A pulmonary valve was donated to him and the gap was closed.

5 months after his first surgery the doctors found that the aorta was putting pressure on the donated valve causing the valve to scar. As a result, it became too narrow and he underwent his second open heart surgery at 6 months.

At 1 year and 2 months, a stent was placed on his pulmonary valve to prevent any further narrowing.
Since then he has gone through 2 catheterizations.
However, because the pulmonary valve was donated, it does not grow with his body and because of this he will need to undergo a minimum of 2 more open heart surgeries.
His next surgery is scheduled in the next 3 months.
Despite everything he has gone though, he remains strong in spirit and is always so cheerful!
