If you know Fabi and Han, but also if you don't but feel like helping someone else please read and contribute in whichever financial way you can or share which will be very helpful too.
Here's the story, they travelled to Colombia in December to spend a few weeks with their family and attend Han's brother's wedding. It has been a specially hard year for Fabi, so making this trip meant the world to her. They managed to leave against the odds and spent a very happy time back home. January came and before they were due to return the UK closed the borders to certain countries due to the Brazil variant, their airline submerged in an exasperating silence and the chances to come back on time began looking more and more difficult. It has taken 4 months, many phone calls, emails and visits to the airline, and different embassies to arrange their return through other countries, altogether it has taken a lot of planning and energy to make their return happening, while Fabi is running out of time because she is in the middle of a visa process that can be jeopardized if she doesn't come back before June!!
Their spirits in the meantime have been low while their finances are suffering a big strain. Fabi has been unemployed for a while despite sending dozens of applications, but Han luckily has a job that allowed him to continue working from home in Colombia. However this one salary has only been enough to cover their rent and bills costs here in the UK and their stay there.
They are finally going to be able to come back through the Netherlands (Han has Dutch nationality), as no other country nearby is allowing flights from Colombia unless you are a national. Here you can't arrive unless you pay the extortionate hotel fees that the UK government has imposed, this is £1750 per one person and £2400 for 2 people to quarantine for 10 days, regardless of whether you have a home here which you also pay rent for.
So, they will be able to come back via the Netherlands, they will need to stay there in quarantine for 10 days, pay some additional costs for staying there, pay flights from Madrid to Amsterdam, Madrid is the furthest destination their airline will take them from Colombia; they then need to pay flights from Amsterdam to Bristol and in between pay a series of PCR tests leaving Colombia, arriving to the Netherlands, leaving there, arriving to Bristol, all together the costs will sum up around £1000 which they will need to get into debt to cover. This is the reason I set up this campaign to help friends in financial hardship.
