My name is Devin. My Wife, Melissa, and I are reaching out for support as our 3-year-old son, Ezra, and our family face an incredibly challenging time. Recently, Ezra was admitted to the hospital for 16 days while being diagnosed with a very rare autoinflammatory bone disease called Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO). During these 16 days Ezra endured 14 blood draws, 3 IVs, 1 bone biopsy, 2 bone marrow biopsies, 2 X-rays, 2 full body MRIs, 1 CT scan, and several different sedations. Watching our little boy go through so much pain and uncertainty has been heartbreaking. Our journey to get him healthy is just beginning. Ezra’s condition requires ongoing specialized IV treatments, maintenance medications and regular physical therapy, and the medical bills are quickly adding up. In addition to these expenses, I will need to miss a significant amount of work to take Ezra to his many appointments and ensure he gets the care he needs. This all comes on the heels of Melissa being hospitalized multiple times for her high risk pregnancy and emergency C-section for our premature daughter (3 months old). The financial strain is overwhelming, but we are determined to do everything possible to help our son recover and return to his happy, energetic self.
