On Wednesday, October 19th, Marissa (Ezra) Baker was struck and run over by a car in Salem, Oregon, while walking home from school.
Due to serious injuries, Marissa was transported to the Legacy Emanuel Trauma Center in Portland, where doctors performed multiple surgeries after suffering a broken collarbone and wrist, a torn bladder, a partially collapsed lung, and a cracked pelvis. Thankfully, Marissa has been stabilized and has even woken up and talked a few times. But now there’s a long road to recovery. Doctors estimate Marissa will need to remain in the hospital in Portland for a number of weeks.
What can you do to help? We want to help raise money to help Marissa’s mom, Amy Markoya, who needs to take time away from work (unpaid time) for several weeks or more. She needs to cover not only her regular bills, but quite a few additional costs as well, and once Marissa is back home, there will be further assistance needed. If it’s on your heart, please donate through this Go Fund Me page.
If you’re able to contribute a meal, Marissa’s sister Destanie has set up a Give In Kind page where you can sign up for a meal.
