Ezra and Ivan Burger are two remarkable brothers who have faced extraordinary challenges since birth. Both were born with mitochondrial disease, and each underwent a heart transplant as toddlers—Ezra at age two and Ivan at age three. Their health has always been unpredictable, making traditional employment nearly impossible. Despite these obstacles, Ezra and Ivan are known for their infectious smiles, kindness, and resilience. Ezra is celebrated as "Superman" and Ivan is "Iron Man." Their strength continues to inspire everyone around them. They love baseball, movies, family vacations, time with their grandparents, and, most of all, popcorn!

Now that Ezra has turned 18, Leo and I want to help our sons build a future that offers both independence and community connection. We dream of starting a mobile gourmet popcorn business—a food truck that would allow Ezra and Ivan to work together, supported by us or respite providers. This business would provide flexible employment, so their health challenges wouldn’t threaten their ability to earn income. The plan is to purchase a used shuttle bus already equipped as a popcorn truck, complete with professional popcorn-making equipment and wheelchair accessibility for Ivan, who spends much of his time in a wheelchair. The funds raised will cover the cost of the bus, necessary upgrades, and transporting the vehicle from Colorado Springs to Madison, Wisconsin.

Ezra and Ivan would use their popcorn truck to serve at farmers markets, sporting events, neighborhood festivals, private catering and charity events. We hope this venture will help our sons combat the isolation that often comes with disability, giving them opportunities to build social skills and connect with their community. Their sister Eleanor, who works as a barista and loves serving her community, is excited to help with social media and support the business. We want to leave a legacy for our sons—a business they can run as adults, with help from Eleanor or a respite worker. By supporting this fundraiser, you would be helping Ezra and Ivan gain independence, build confidence, and create a brighter future. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The funds raised will include the cost of the truck, professionals popping equipment, vehicle repairs and delivery from Coloroad Springs CO, and start up costs.
