My name is Ezekiel, and for years I’ve worked hard as a plumber, building up my business and collecting the tools and equipment I needed to support my family. A few months ago, my plumbing truck was stolen, along with a lifetime’s worth of tools and supplies. I did everything I could to recover from this loss—I filed a claim with my auto insurance, only to be told that my full coverage didn’t include my tools and equipment. They said I needed an inland marine policy, something my broker never mentioned or offered. When I tried to file a claim with my homeowners insurance, I was denied again.

This has left me unable to work for the past six months. My truck was my livelihood, and without it and my tools, I can’t provide for my family. Insurance offered a small amount for my truck, and I still haven’t received that payment. My wife and I are raising our 8-year-old granddaughter, and this loss has made it incredibly difficult to make ends meet.
