Expanding The Thrifty Teacher: We're ALL artists.
The Thrifty Teacher is an education store that runs on donations to provide secondhand items to teachers, art lessons to students, as well as open art studio opportunities to families.
During the reopening of schools during COVID it will be essential for classrooms to have additional 1:1 materials for hygiene purposes- much of this responsibility is falling on teachers. Additionally, children have lived behind a screen for the last 1.5 years of their academic career. The Thrifty Teacher aims to build a community where students can socialize with peers while creating personalized masterpieces, as well as providing teachers with the materials they need to help their students thrive at a deeply discounted price.
The Thrifty Teacher is raising funds to defray the operating costs of expanding their impact to include before and after care programs for neighborhood students, day time art classes for homeschooling students, and teacher events/workshops to increase the educator community in the DMV area.
