A Journey for Safety Interrupted
I am raising funds for Ewaz Nabizada, who arrived in Sault Ste. Marie about eight months ago seeking safety after fleeing Afghanistan. He came here to build a new, secure life for his wife and young daughter, but on April 2nd, life took an unexpected and terrifying turn.
After suffering a sudden, severe headache and nausea, Ewaz was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm. Due to the critical nature of his condition, he was airlifted from the Soo to Toronto in the early hours of the morning. Since arriving in Toronto yesterday, he has already undergone two major surgeries.
He is currently in a specialized care unit in Toronto and must remain there for at least two weeks under intense observation. Being in a different city, far from his new home and support in the Soo, adds an immense layer of difficulty. He is navigating this crisis while still learning English and experiencing his first winter in the Soo.
All funds raised will go directly to Ewaz Nabizada, his wife, and his 11 years old daughter. As the sole provider, his inability to work during this unfortunate incident and long recovery leaves his family in a very vulnerable position. Let’s show them the strength of our community during their hardest hour. Please donate if you can, or share this story to help us reach others.
