My name is Turan Koptur, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my brother, Evren Koptur.
Evren is a devoted father, husband, and educator who has dedicated over 23 years of his life to teaching and mentoring students. Most recently, he served in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State University, where he taught computer engineering and cybersecurity courses. He made significant contributions to the Computer Engineering program and played an important role in supporting and guiding students in the graduate (Master’s) program.
Over the past year, Evren has been fighting a serious and ongoing medical condition. He suffered a brain hemorrhage due to a cavernoma tumor and has since undergone two brain surgeries. While those surgeries were critical, his battle is not over. He continues to live with a remaining brain tumor that has recently shown signs of growth.
As a result of his condition, Evren is now living with vision impairment and other challenges that prevent him from safely continuing his work in a physical environment. As of April 30, he has transitioned into disability retirement.
This sudden transition has created a significant financial burden for Evren and his family. His employment income has ended, and his employer provided health insurance has ended. While COBRA coverage is available, the monthly cost is extremely high and difficult to sustain. At the same time, medical care, treatments, and everyday living expenses continue.
Evren is facing this difficult time while supporting his wife and 6 years old daughter. Despite everything, he remains strong and hopeful, focusing on his recovery and his family.
We are starting this fundraiser to help ease the financial pressure during this critical period. The goal is to help cover several months of essential expenses while he continues his treatment and adjusts to this new phase of life.
Funds raised will go toward:
Ongoing medical treatments and care
Health insurance costs
Mortgage and essential living expenses
Supporting his family during recovery
Evren has spent his life helping others learn, grow, and succeed. Now, we are asking for support to help him and his family through this challenging time.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much to us.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and compassion.
