On Monday, September 1, 2025, Evon Smith suffered a sudden, catastrophic stroke that would take her from us far too soon. She was a beloved sister, mother, and daughter and this loss was devastating to us on every level. The road ahead is uncertain for our family but what we know in the short term is that we can no longer afford to stay in our home of the past 12 years. She was our household's primary source of income and we have to figure out how to move forward, as well as move across the country to where we have loved ones offering to take us in while we try to get back on our feet.
We are doing what we can but the truth is that thanks to the cost of living in our current residence, we are nearly broke and will not have much money coming in. We need time to take care of the multitude of things that come next after the loss of a loved one, time to start the process of packing up our lives, and time to make the preparations to move. In the meantime, the bills and general expenses to survive will not wait. Thankfully, our rent for this month was already paid and we only need enough to get through the next month or so. On top of everything else, we also need to renew our vehicle registration at the end of this month. We will need to stay at our apartment one additional month in order to have the time we need to settle our affairs here and start the move to another state.
Your generosity will help us tremendously while we try and recover from this tragedy that has forever impacted our family. It will help us get to where we can carry on and take care of our family and those we care about just as Evon always did. All of us thank you in advance for your support.
